ABOUT ASIA FOOD FEST

The Texas Asian Chamber of Commerce, Texas Culinary Academy, and SATAY Restaurant have come together to bring you this annual celebration of Asian cuisine, the ASIA Food Fest!

This is Austinites' "Culinary Passport to Asia"!

Dr. Foo Swasdee, owner of SATAY Restaurant, founded the ASIA Food Fest in 2006 to educate people about Asian ingredients, food, and cooking. As Austin Asian population grows (doubling every 10 years), the more choices Austin Asian Food Lovers have to choose from!

Every year, we have our version of the Iron Chef Competition, where competing chefs battle in the kitchen for the title of Austin Iron Chef. The winner comes back the next year to be challenged. We also bring in different Asian restaurants and chefs to teach cooking classes.

We’ve had classes like “Different Kinds of Asian BBQ – Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese”, “The Art of Making Dim Sum”, “Thai Curries”, “Chinese Stir Fry”, and much more.

The goal each year is to build the bridge between Asian Food Lovers and the Restaurants and Chefs offering GREAT Asian Cuisine!

In years past, we’ve had special guests like Martin Yang, State Representatives Elliot Naishstat, Hubert Vo, Dawna Dukes and Eddie Rodriguez.

We started the event in 2006 with less than 100 people in attendance. We now have over 600 people!

As Foo always says, great food brings great people together.

We hope you will be able to come out and join us for this one of a kind annual celebration of Asian cuisine!
